11st National Photography Auction
Official auctioneer: Reginaldo de Carvalho
Opening Night – August 20th. 2007 as from 8:00pm
This is the first auction exclusively dedicated to photography to be held
in the Salão de Arte. Under the curatorship
of the photographer Emidio Luisi, the initiative has the cooperation and
partnership of Fotograma Imagens, a company with more than 20 years of actuation
in the market.
This
type of sale, in a so important event such as the Salão de Arte,
contemplates a trend that is happening in major part of the occidental countries.
Some time ago, in one of the fantastic auctions of Sotheby’s,
hundreds of photographs belonging to the Metropolitan Museum were
sold. Long time has elapsed since discussions were held trying to find out
if the photography was an art or only a technique.
We will have the participation of the main Brazilian photographers and of
young talents that are arising in the market.
“Since
the 1980 decade, the photography has been expanding its space in the market
– and today it is strong even in the arts' system, present more and
more in biennials, more and more valorized internationally” (Camila
Molina Jornal Estado de São Paulo – Caderno 2).
Part of the income of this auction will be designed to the Associação
de Assistência à Criança Cardíaca e à
Transplantada do Coração - ACTC.
